Please discuss chapter 236 here!
Well not to be rude or anything but I feel like those last 2 chapters( including this one) haven’t had much content . It’s not a bad chapter by itself but We’re starting to drift away from the main plot . As much as I like wandering into Allen’s past , I don’t think it’s quite the right timing to put such content now especially since we only get 4 chapters a year. I can’t say I’m not disappointed .
It feels a little like we're wrapping up the past to make way for the main plot to really kick into high gear, which is good. I think the author may be trying to flush out a few loose- ends in order to focus on the main plot, as well as allow us readers to develop a better understanding of the relationship between Mana and both Nea and Allen as separate individuals. Personally, I prefer this kind of closure over something like what the author of bleach did with far-too-many side stories (And don't get me wrong, I greatly enjoy Bleach!)
This chapter definitely raises some questions though for me about whom exactly of the two Apocryphos (I can never spell his name right!) was following then- and I'm curious about which of the two (Mana or Allen) it was, and the mention of this Helix thing is something that could pop up again, for sure.
Also, with Allen the dog's passing and final moments, I think we're probably towards the end of chapters revolving around Allen's past at the circus, which is a nice touch, I think. The focus on the dog's grief for the loss of his owner was actually really well done, and seeing his reaction to the dog's death solidifies just how intense Mana relied on him as an anchor in fighting his Noah half. The poor guy has some pretty bad PTSD from Nea's rebellion, and I think seeing that in this format answers a lot of the Earl's zanier antics in earlier chapters. My guess is we could have maybe one last look into the past, and then we'll be back to the main story. :) Personally, I just want to enjoy this as it goes.
I liked the new chapter, but it was pretty short. If the chapters continue to be so short it will be awhile before we can get back to the original plot of the series.
I think it is trying to cement the history of Mana/Allen/Nea/ Adam and Apocreepy. I agree, it seems a little like 'filler', but we need to know/remember what happened in the past, so we can understand what is happening now.
With Road being the only Noah left from that time, how does the information she has, impact on the way she acts towards Allen/Nea now? Is any of it real? Or is it a manipulation of Roads powers?
I can't wait for the storyline to continue, when we might finally get to the Campbells part in it all and who, exactly, 'Allen' is . . . .
So in the end we don't know how Allen died?
It looked is Cosimov failed but in the end the dog is dead anyway? Maybe it was Apocryphos after all?
Sky--- there is a script that was released as a one-shot with one of the released databooks in 2010 by Hoshino and Kizaki Kaya, an author who has helped her with the writing aspect of the series for years, that actually holds the story of Red/Allen's past during his time at the circus, and essentially covers the immediate chapters having to do with his and Mana's connection through the majority of the past we've seen in the recent chapters, although the chapter I've read doesn't cover the actions of other characters (ex. Road and Cross's interaction, to name one scenario.)
I'm not sure why it was shared, but I think the popular belief is they were unsure if they would be able to continue to get the series published for much longer after the databook was announced (also, I think this was a period in time where Hoshino's health was not good, and she feared she would not be able to continue storytelling.) They released it for the fans at the time so that they would be able to give something meaningful to the community who had waited so long.
At some point, I think another editor whom also had a copy of that particular databook made edits to the wiki, and left some info about what happened to the dog. But, given it's been a few years, it could be the story is changed...
A little filler? Guys, this chapter pretty much revealed who has the Heart of the Innocence...
@C0quettishCat You r referring to the Lost Fragment of Snow of D.Gray-man Reverse? https://dgrayman.fandom.com/wiki/Lost_Fragment_of_Snow
I havent read them but yeah it seems that the story is slightly different, notably the death of Allen.
I'm intrigued how do you understand that line from Apocryphos?
Now we know that the wielder of the heart is "dead" but can be resurrected?
What do you think?
